In the Light of Amarna. 100 Years of the Nefertiti Discovery
On 6th December 1912 the coloured bust of Queen Nefertiti was found during excavations in Tell el-Amarna. One hundred years later, the Ägyptisches Museum (Egyptian Museum) and Papyrussammlung (Papyrus Collection) of the Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin (Berlin State Museums) are taking this date as an opportunity to dedicate a comprehensive Special Exhibition not only to the famous bust but also the entire Amarna era on Berlin’s Museum Island. “In the Light of Amarna. 100 Years of the Nefertiti Discovery” will be on display from 7th December 2012 to 13th April 2013 in the Neues Museum. For the first time ever, a major part of the Berlin collection, which has never been displayed before, will be the focus of an exhibition that will be enriched by numerous international items on loan.
